Earlier on, the opposition refused to name members to the official committee, because it was to be dominated by the incumbents, which was seen as a sure sign that it would try to justify unacceptable acts of police brutality.

    Twelve Dams Out of 607 Found to be Dangerous Only available to subscribers

    Sofia - February 22 (BTA) - Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traicho Traikov told reporters Wednesday that out of the 607 dams checked so far, twelve were found to be dangerous. The managers of the twelve dams have been issued instructions and work is under way to implement them, Traikov said. The most frequent safety measures are emptying the volume of the dams to at least half their capacity or sometimes the entire dam, cleaning of spillways, and unblocking of water outlets.
